Have I Seen Everything Now?

Image result for gas station deli and grill

The other day I was driving along and passed the Exxon Deli and Grill!…As in the Exxon gas station has a deli and grill attached to it now. Whatever happened to repair shops being attached to gas stations? Now they’re making me a sandwich while pumping my gas?

So if I go in there and ask for a sandwich made just the way I like it, and they ask me what kind of oil I’d like on it, do I ask for 30 weight or 40? And does it matter if I’m buying my sandwich in the Winter or Spring?

What’s on the grill? Alaskan Duck marinated in Exxon Valdez oil spill?

Oh well, at least now I know what the oil companies are doing with my Trump Tax Break. Now that they’ve raised their gas prices all of my tax savings are going straight into their wallets!

So “Fillerup!” And make my grilled salmon to go… with an extra helping of fumes!”

Of course it’s to go. I’m at a freakin’ gas station for cryin’ out loud!!!

Put A Stamp On It!

Image result for stamps

Did you ever put a stamp on an envelope and notice that it often says in the upper right hand corner that the Post Office will not deliver your mail without the proper postage attached?

So what’s all the fuss that our President is trying to create by telling us that Amazon is not paying to have its packages delivered? Just how would they get away with that when everyone knows that the Post Office doesn’t carry our letters, packages and mail around for free? Did you ever try to pop something in the mail without postage????

If you’re lucky the Post Office will send it back to you with a note that says (See above)…if not, you’ll just never see your mail again…nor will anyone else…

The Post Office is not funded by American tax dollars and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. And while it is true that the P.O. is suffering from a large amount of debt that’s only because most of the Postal Service’s financial problems have been created by a government mandate that it pay up front for retiree pension and health care expenses. That’s because an act of Congress says that it has to… (private businesses that have retiree benefit obligations are not required to pay those amounts up front.)… And those P.O. obligations for current and past employees stood at $38 billion at the end of its most recent fiscal year.

And that’s why The Postal Service’s debt is so high. It’s a direct result of the Congressional mandate that it must pay for 10 years to pre-fund the retiree healthcare plan and pension fund…not because Amazon is having it’s mail delivered for free.

And yet our President insists on tweeting:

“I am right about Amazon costing the United States Post Office massive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy. Amazon should pay these costs (plus) and not have them bourne by the American Taxpayer. Many billions of dollars. P.O. leaders don’t have a clue (or do they?)!”

Does our President have a clue? He should, because…well…like…He is the President!…Of the United States! And he could ask someone who works in the White House or in his Cabinet or in Congress…or Melania even! I bet she knows or could certainly ask someone for him.

But noooooooooo…instead the President has issued an executive order calling for an investigation into the Postal Service’s finances so that we can spend some real taxpayer’s money trying to once again find out who ate the strawberries when we already know who did it…our own President, Captain Queeg!

Just imagine… 2 and a half more years of having to watch the President of the United States…just mailing it in every day…and without a stamp!?

No Pseudo For You!

Image result for pseudoephedrine

So I made my usual trip to the pharmacy to purchase my allotment of Claritin-D which is regulated by the Federal government because it contains Pseudophedrine, a substance that can be used to make Crystal-Meth, and when I produced my driver’s license (necessary according to Federal law) and it was scanned into the pharmacy’s computer, the computer responded with a funny noise and…

No Pseudo for me!

Now I don’t make Crystal-Meth, and I don’t want to…but I do have allergies and Claritin-D helps a lot but the machine hath spoken… said the clerk, and I was denied my medication. She didn’t know why the machine made a funny noise and when she called over the pharmacist he didn’t know either. And don’t look at me because I didn’t have a clue, except for the fact that my wife might have taken one or two of my pills during the course of the past week and so I may have used my allotment without knowing it…but the computer apparently did!

And since the machine made the noise and refused to continue with the transaction there was nothing any of us could do. No sale! No how! No way! I was left to my sneezes and itchy nose and hopes for another day…

Once upon a time I was able to receive my allergy medication from a doctor who would prescribe it for me and the pharmacist would fill the prescription and that was that. Then the medication was approved for over the counter sales and not only did it become more expensive but also was subject to more government regulation and hence the day was soon to come when not a doctor, nor a law enforcement officer, but rather a common clerk would have the authority to tell me:

No Pseudo for you!

Now what am I to do? Turn to Heroine? That won’t help with my allergies! Hit the black market? Turn to a life of crime? Or perhaps I will have to just wait until the machine says that it is OK for me to have some more…after all I am not a criminal and I am not in the Crystal-Meth making business nor do I need any more than the amount necessary to quench my allergy symptoms…

So I ask you: Why can’t we do this with Opioids?

Just take them out of the hands of the doctors who always seem to prescribe more than they should because they empathize so strongly with the pain and suffering of their patients. Take them out of the hands of the Pharmaceutical companies who can’t seem to help wanting to make as much money as they possibly can by producing more pills than is humanly possible for humans to consume responsibly, and also take them out of the hands of the pharmacists who fill prescriptions simply because… they are prescribed.

Let’s put opioids in the hands of the computers and the common store clerk who has no authority to do what he or she can’t do except say, No Oxy for you! …When the machine goes whir or beep or whatever. Then the opioid user has a choice: Wait until they can purchase more to manage their pain, as medically prescribed by federal law, or…turn to a life of crime. In which case they would then be responsible for their own addiction (which we don’t seem to hold them responsible for now…like the hundreds of thousands of addicts we stow away in our prisons)

We’ve been at war with drugs in America for 60 years! Law enforcement has not worked…but they’re still on the job. Walls have not worked…but we still want to build more. Drug companies have not helped.. and they still keep churning out more and more pills. Doctors have not helped….and they still keep on writing those prescriptions. So Maybe simple computers and work-a-day clerks can get the job done?

Achoo!

Did You Get Your Money?

Image result for tax reform

There is a commercial being run on television here in the New York metropolitan area featuring a young mother explaining to the camera that now that she has received her 2,000 dollar increase in her pay check and a $1,000 bonus from the company she works for… as direct results of the recent Republican tax reform, life in America is so much easier because she and her family can now afford to buy so many more of the things that they need.

Has this happened to you? Are you earning 3,000 dollars more than you were 3 months ago? The commercial says that this is the average increase in middle class workers pay throughout the country.

I have received about 32 dollars more in my monthly pay or around 380 dollars over the course of this coming year…and of course since I have not filled out my 2018 tax return, because that will not be due until another year from now, I have no way of knowing whether I will receive more in tax savings or will have to pay it all back (and more?) because of the deductions I am going to lose because of the new tax plan.

So are we all getting richer or am I the only unlucky tax payer in America?

I would love to hear about your good fortunes! Thanks!

Image result for President Trump signing tax bill

Remember when President Trump talked about his tax-reform plan, which he said would benefit the middle class at the expense of wealthy Americans like himself? And when he said: “They can call me all they want. It’s not going to help,” (he said of his rich friends). “And it’s not good for me, believe me.” (Did you believe him?)

Well President Trump is spending the Christmas holiday with his family in Florida this year (each trip there costs “we the people” 21 million tax dollars) and according to CBS News (all fake because they work for the Democrats and Hillary who actually rules the world) he told friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, just hours after he got there that: “You all just got a lot richer.”

Proponents of the bill celebrate it as relief for the middle class that also provides a tax cut based spending stimulus for large corporations… to the tune of 1.4 trillion dollars, which for all intents and purposes will be going to key donors and lobbyists, the richest members of Congress, President Trump, his family and other families like his. (but of course we don’t know for sure how much President Trump will get because our president won’t show us his taxes)

But we can all rejoice in the fact that our share should result in somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 dollars next year of tax relief, depending on the size of our paycheck today of course. That should amount to anywhere between 19 and 38 dollars a paycheck (or 38 and 76 dollars if you are paid bi-monthly) That’s 30 gallons of gas each month! (nothing to sneeze at, right?)

At that rate your tax breaks could save you enough money to take you by car from Maine to Mar-a-Lago in 2.12 months (of saving your tax breaks)…but if you wanted to go there in style like the POTUS does (at least bi-monthly, and for 21 mill a vacay) then you’ll have to save your tax breaks for 127,000 months or about 10,500 years! (That’s if your getting the BIG middle class tax break)

In conclusion?: It’s good to be the King isn’t it? (and I suspect it always has been)

What Do We Know?

Image result for survey of new tax plan

Tax cuts are coming! Huzzah! But so far no one knows how much or when and recent surveys of taxpayers have shown that most American tax payers have no idea how much money they actually pay in federal taxes each year nor what percentage of their earnings their taxes equal. Do you? Does President Trump? We suspect he does but he is not telling us anyway.

However the President’s advisers have been arguing that he does not need to reduce federal spending while he cuts taxes in order to make ends meet. Just like you wouldn’t have to cut your home expenses if you lost your job or were forced to take a pay cut because, you know reduced income will stimulate your home economy just like reduced tax revenue will stimulate the US economy.

But according to a new survey conducted at the University of Chicago, Eighty-four percent of all economic experts polled disagreed that Trump’s tax cuts would pay for themselves through increased economic growth. Mostly because it’s never worked before…ever.

Still that is the plan, although it has yet to be finalized by the president and Congress… and most Americans polled believe that they will get screwed and end up paying more in taxes unless they are rich and/or a corporation. I wonder why that is? Could it be that when Asked whether tax cuts since 1980 have ever paid for themselves, no economists argued that they had?

So will it work this time? We will just have to wait and see. The average American’s wages and income have not increased in real dollars (as in kept up with inflation) in over 40 years but maybe, just maybe, this will be the year. They say that the president himself will be looking at a 31 million dollar tax savings just for himself but then again no one really knows how much if any taxes the President now pays (but that’s only because he won’t tell us).

But we do know that the average corporation in the new tax plan will receive a massive cut in their tax rate from 35% to 20%! Will you and I see a 15% reduction in our tax rate? Probably not, but don’t despair because after all, here in America, corporations are people too! and they also have to make ends meet… just like you… Huzzah!

Nice Work If You Can Get It

23 Oct

trumpgolf2.png

Here is a fun fact…President Trump has already golfed on average 1 out of every 4 of his days in office as The President of the United states. So if he continues on this pace, then after his 4 year term as President, he will have spent 1 full year on the golf course and only 3 years in his office.

And the best part is that he only golfs at Trump golf courses where his Secret Service Agents must rent golf carts in order to follow the president and protect him as he makes his way through fairways, sand traps and other golf hazards. ( I seriously don’t know why they can’t just follow him around on foot? How fast can a 70+ year old play?)

But I digress, because at the current rate of golf cart rentals the Secret Service is spending over $100,000 per year just on that…and all of that money goes into President Trump’s golfing businesses. So that’s over $400,000 for golf cart rentals alone over a 4 year presidency which means that President Trump will not only spend 1/4 of his time in office golfing, but he will also be paid for it in an amount equal to 1 year of his presidential salary.

And if we calculate all of the money spent by the Secret Service renting rooms at his properties etc. etc. etc…and add it to President trump’s income, well, all I can say is…  Nice work if you can get it, huh? And get paid while doing it too!? And while not even working?! And after trashing our former POTUS for golfing too… at 1/8 the frequency!

Wow! America, meet our plutocratic, pietistical, Polytetrafluoroethylene POTUS! Making America (and himself) Great Again…one swing at a time.

Hey Republicans…At least he’s not Obama, right? (wink, wink)
