I Just Want To Be Like Our New President: 2

Earlier in this year’s presidential campaign, President Elect Trump said this about  Arizona senator and former prisoner of war, Mr. John McCain: “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Mr. McCain, was shot down during the Vietnam War and held prisoner for more than five years in Hanoi, refusing early release even after being repeatedly beaten.

Later when asked if he wished to retract his statement about the veteran and senator Mr. Trump clarified his statement by saying: “You do things and you say things. And what I said, frankly, is what I said. And you know some people like what I said, if you want to know the truth. Many people that like what I said. You know after I said that, my poll numbers went up seven points.”

In fact over 59 million Americans voted for Donald Trump and did not seem in the least bit bothered nor swayed by his comments about Veteran’s and war heroes. And although Mr. McCain did not agree with Mr. Trump’s comments he still decided to support his candidacy for President.

So if our new President picks and chooses who is an heroic veteran and who is not, then tomorrow on Veteran’s day, should I only cheer for the Veteran’s who weren’t also POWs?

I just want to be like our new President.

Is that so wrong?

(Please feel free to mock my post or say nasty things in the comments section. Then you can be just like our new President too)

If we held Obama to his word on everything he said in his campaign – his legacy would be a big fat Zero.

That’s encouraging to hear. So I shouldn’t worry because Trump’s words were just lies? If the Republicans (and they now have a monopoly) get everything they say they want then the America that your father and mine fought for will be gone. So I guess we just have to watch the show and see what happens.

Why don’t we work together? I’ve never said what party I was for or against, you are assuming because I’m not out protesting or yelling on the internet? That accomplishes nothing. It’s time to roll up our sleeves.
