An Unholy Trinity?

3 Feb

It’s being billed as  “The Night of Unbelievable Commercials”!

Are we talking about the Superbowl or The Presidential Primaries?

I really do believe it’s getting as though we Americans can’t tell anymore…nor do we seem to care. There’s the media, and the message and the commercials… and they have all become one and the same.

We’ve become like Ancient Rome, addicted to the performances in the “colosseum” while our leaders fiddle. I fear the outcome will be the same.

That’s why many of us choose to watch our televisions shows a day late! We DVR them and then fast forward through the commercials. At the same time, I agree that political events have taken on the style and tone of advertising, which is both intriguing and worrisome.

I just don’t watch TV anymore. To much bullshit from everyone. If that makes me ignorant, then I’m ignorant. I’d rather not have to deal with the triggers and socially “acceptable” scheeple mentality.

I can honestly say this problem is world wide. I live is South Africa and things like how much the president spends on his private residence and the queen visiting gets the same news coverage. People are being brain washed to see what is most popular, and not what is most important. This is creating a sort-of fairytale reality for the less informed people out there. Freedom of speech in the media is no longer about what the journalists want to write about, but rather what the media companies get the most money for publishing. This is the fundamental problem.
