Heaven or…

20 Apr

It has been revealed by a recent survey that 68 percent of Americans (as of last November) do believe in heaven and that slightly fewer, or 64 percent, believe in the survival of the soul after death. Where the soul goes and where exactly heaven is located within the universe is still up for debate

Today is Easter Sunday when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which gives believers a place in heaven when they die.

So my question is:

Which is the correct path to heaven?

Is it Right Belief in the correct religion or religious figure or is it Right Behavior, as in how you live your life and how you treat others and other creatures while alive and living on our planet?

Please feel free to discuss…

I have never been able to make up my mind concerning what happens after death. It will just have to remain a mystery for me until I experience it for myself! If I have to choose between the two choices you gave, I would pick Right Behavior. I don’t care what religion you are, if you do bad things and treat people badly, your religion is not going to save you.

What do we have to lose in believing there is a heaven? I say nothing. Does the “correct” faith or religion as you say matter? This is above my pay grade! I will say I am Lutheran Born and Lutheran Confirmed. My belief system obviously much influenced by my protestant upbringing. However, as I listen to Pope Francis–I am at awe at his take on life and his genuine touch to the human soul. It is this that I find worth seeking after in my own life. He Has Risen. Happy Easter!

Religion doesn’t matter, it’s all about our behavior, how we treat one another while we are living. We are supposed to love and care for one another as we do ourselves. I guess some people really don’t care about themselves because they way that they treat others is really bad.

It’s all about our behavior and how we treat each other. We are supposed to love one another as we love ourselves. With that being said, I guess manny of us don’t love ourselves very much because it shows in how we treat others.

Very good and thought provoking blog post from a blogger that I follow. The following are my comments, read the blog post and tell me/us what you think. Religion has nothing to do with God. If it were so why are there so many of them? I do believe in God and another form of life after we leave this one. I simply choose to stop following the opinions of people preaching from their perch on this earth. Perspective changes everything.

What is right, and is always right no matter what you believe, is descent behavior. It always applies and is the best thing you can do to assist humankind and mother nature. Do what’s right BECAUSE it’s right and not because you think it’s going to win you the salvation lottery. If that’s all you’re aiming for then you’ve already lost. πŸ™‚

funny, I was thinking the following earlier today. 1. Thug for organized crime family routinely slaughters innocents for benefit of his bosses, but is active and devoted church member. With the exception of overlooking certain “thou shallt nots,” he is a perfect parishioner. 2. Very nice guy with a lifelong love of people, kind and always helping those in need; but does not practice any formal religious persuasions … Just happily lives and let’s live. Which one goes to heaven? Hmmmmm!

I try to live as though this were my only shot at it. That way, I live to the fullest and try to treat everyone else, and every encounter, as if it really mattered. I try to walk my talk. In that way, I make the world today as good as it can be. Wouldn’t that be heaven, now? I think being good out of fear of damnation misses the point. It’s a little like gagging down dinner, so that you can have dessert. There, you’ve gone and missed out on enjoying a perfectly good dinner!

I like the phrase “my religion is kindness”. As to the way to heaven, it’s a bit self-serving, isn’t it, to consider your own selfish needs to get there, no point adopting kindness if you only do it for a perceived self-interest in the afterlife. Kindness needs to come from the heart with no thought of reward.

I’m not into organized religion, but I believe I’m here to learn and do some good.

Deep thoughts, for sure. The Christian faith is one that teaches the Golden Rule … It’s not just believing, it’s DOING. “DO TO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO TO YOU.” Luke 6:31

It also says that no one is without “sin”, that is to say we have all done wrong. But there is hope for us all. In a nutshell, Jesus came to show the way and said that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We don’t have to believe in Him, but if we do then we must also do what He tells us. Deeds and actions.

Love thy neighbour. Love one another. Love our enemies. πŸ™‚

A very thought provoking subject and one that I happen to love! If you believe in the bible and its teachings then the answer is pretty simple. I don’t care what “religion” you choose to call yourself, Biblicaly speaking, there is only one way to heaven and that is through a relationship with Jesus. Now, don’t everyone start throwing white-out at the computer screen, LOL! It’s been my experience that the more you read and learn about who He was and why He came you just can’t seem to help but start treating people with kindness, doing onto others, ect, if you believe anyway. That’s my story and i’m stickin to it! Hahaha!

A Very thought provoking topic that I happen to love. If you believe in the bible and its teachings then the answer is quite simple. I don’t care what “religion” you want to call yourself because, according to God’s Word, there is only one way to heaven and that is through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, don’t everyone start throwing white-out at the screen cuz I’m just stating a biblical fact, Lol! The truth is, biblicaly speaking, once you get to know who Christ was and why He was here then the “good works” just naturally follow, if you choose to follow Him that is…. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. πŸ™‚

When young, I got in big trouble in Catechism class and was yanked out and sent to the priest (for “reconditioning”, I guess) when I questioned the idea that everyone had a chance to accept Jesus and you didn’t get into Heaven if you didn’t.

“But what about people who’ve never HEARD of Jesus?”

    Of course it’s acts.
