If you watched the Republican rebuttal to the President of the United States’ State of the Union speech tonight, could you please tell me what the Republican plans and solutions to our nation’s troubles are? The speaker kept talking about them but all I could discern from her speech was that every American should have a dollar, a dream and the blessing of God and that should suffice to help them obtain a successful future, just like the one she is enjoying.

Did I miss anything?

If you heard any specific, concrete and/or alternate Republican party plans or solutions for what ails Americans please let me know what they are in the comments section of this blog post. I’d hate to think that I missed something…

Thank you. I would appreciate it.

I didn’t watch the Republican response. But I think you’re looking for the equivalent of the lost city of Atlantis. Or maybe they lost their plans in the Bermuda Triangle. Or flew to close to the sun and they burned up into nothing.

They totally missed the mark tonight.

I find it disturbing that both depended on anecdotes rather than data.

I watched neither, mainly because I wasn’t in a position to do so. Yet if the State of the Union wasn’t spoken of in incredibly sombre tones: how there is a disturbing inverse correlation to corporate gains and corporations less willing to hire/invest in their workforce, how corporations whose business can directly and disastrously impact the environment have no meaningful oversight despite the past four years of real disasters of all sizes, how Congressmen and Senators can make absolutely no legislative progress and still receive greater pay and benefits than someone busting their ass at a fast food joint, how no real solutions save to throw more money at DISEASEcare does little to meaningfully improve the quality of life for American citizens, how States Rights awkwardly trumps Federal standards in all-important areas like health, education and infrastructure…et alius ad nauseum.

I don’t think I need to hear the State of the Union if the very real state of affairs isn’t broached with all due seriousness. I’ve had no trust in this political system for as long as I can remember, certainly as an adult, and I don’t have any real faith in it. From the time I became an adult, 13 days before the 9/11 attacks and began to actively pay attention to politics, I’ve seen nothing more than a remarkably stupid, apathetic, uninformed, under-informed or otherwise distracted populace let the pleonexic play high school games with the things that have the greatest over-arching impact on their lives. And much like in high school there are the genuine good folk who try to do something and end up with the power to do nothing unless it fits in some self-aggrandising agenda or other.

The system isn’t bad as such, it’s simply that so very few are qualified, informed and/or sagacious enough to take part in it and that, somehow, by design of the people make a fuck story of the thing. But when every idiot’s opinion is not only allowed to matter but encouraged, actively encouraged…well, here we are.

The last frank State of the Union address was given by President Carter, and forever after he was referred to as Negative On America. I’m sure the Constitution intended an actual report, but the media and the public don’t want that.

All wanting or the lack of it aside, the emotional and intellectual constitution of the People seem to be wholly unable to handle it. And in saying this I’m fully aware of how negative I seem to be, however it must be said that those unwilling to face just how much shit they bring to a situation are only going to make the situation worse.

No. The answer would be too long.

All I know is, she wants everyone to have a dollar, and Michelle Bachmann wants to give someone named Ann a job (Wolf Blitzer show). Seems to be pretty simple to fix America!

Republicans have no more of a solution than Obama or the democratic party. There are less than a handful of “republicans” that I agree with sometimes due to their libertarian influences, but overall it’s the same party as the democrats. Useless crooks out for their own gain, the lot of them.

Doing away with the republicans and democrats could not come soon enough.

Their plans and solutions are the same ones they’ve had since Bush left office: stop Obama from instituting his plans and solutions. Since they have no offense they’re putting 22 players out there for their defense.
